There are still a few up-and-coming local Christmas events to be enjoyed this weekend, including a holiday variety show, a present wrapping party and more.

A Very Special Christmas Party

Families with special needs children are invited to attend A Very Special Christmas Party 6-8 p.m. Friday at Wilson Park Recreation Center, 2205 Curtis B Elliot Drive in Temple.

Temple Civic Theatre

Temple Civic Theatre will present “Home for the Holidays,” a one-night variety show beginning 7:30 p.m. Friday. The production will feature holiday songs, poems and readings performed by many of the theater’s familiar faces.

A pre-show reception will begin 7 p.m. The theater will also be accepting non-perishable food items for a local food pantry beginning at 5 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased online at www.templecivictheatre.com, or from the Box Office one hour before the show. The theater is located at 2413 S. 13th St. in Temple.

Live music at O’Briens

Central Texas-based singer/ songwriter and Purple Heart Veteran Nick Sterling will perform 9 p.m. Friday at O’Briens Irish Pub, 11 E. Central Ave. in Temple.

Local band Martian Folk will return to the Pub stage to perform 9 p.m. Saturday.

Breakfast with Santa

The Hilton Garden Inn, 1749 Scott Blvd. in Temple, will host Breakfast with Santa 8-9 a.m. Sunday. Guests will have the opportunity to enjoy a kid-friendly breakfast buffet and an exclusive meet-and-greet with Santa. Kids can share their Christmas list with Santa and parents will be able to take photos.

Holiday Show

A “Ho-Ho-Holiday Show” featuring Sparkles the Elf will take place 10 a.m. Saturday at the Temple Public Library, 100 W. Adams Ave.

The show will be held in the McLane Room on the third floor. All ages are welcome to attend. The event is sponsored by the Friends of the Temple Public Library.

Wrap and Yap

The Salado Public Library, 1151 N. Main St., will host a Wrap and Yap event 5-7:30 p.m. tonight.

Adults are invited to bring their unwrapped gifts, wrapping paper and ribbon to the library to wrap presents while enjoying conversations. The library will have some wrapping paper and bows available, and light refreshments will be served.

Nature in Lights

Belton Lake Outdoor Recreation Area’s annual Nature in lights event, featuring five and a half miles of holiday light displays, will be open nightly 5:30-11 p.m. through Jan. 6, including Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
