RIFFS Presentation at UMHB

The College of Visual and Performing Arts at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor will present RIFFS on Tuesday, November 3, at 7:30 p.m. in the Shelton Theatre in the Mabee Student Center. A collaborative program that includes visual art from Art Professor Barbara Fontaine-White's painting class, poetry from English professors Brady Peterson and Audell Shelburne, and jazz performances by the university’s Jazz Combo, staff accompanist Nelda Milligan, music professor Jessye Whitis, and a featured set by saxophone soloist, and alum, Patrick Trahan. The paintings will be exhibited, poetry read, music played, along with multi-media projections. Shelton will be set up like a coffee house / jazz club with tables and chairs. There will be a coffee "bar" and desserts provided. This event is free and open to the public, with limited seating. This is the second annual cross-discipline arts event at UMHB. "Riffs" is a jazz term, which also has connotations for the use of language.

Divorce Care

Canyon Creek Church of Christ at 6:00pm to 8:00pm
Divorce Care will meet Tuesday Nov 2 at 6pm at 4902 S 31st, Canyon Creek Church of Christ. Divorce Care supports families and singles going through the trama of divorce. Videos and discussion groups on topics of anger, depression, forgiveness, financial issues, etc are discussed.

University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Blood Drive

University of Mary Hardin-Baylor is hosting a community blood drive on Tuesday, November 3rd from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Wednesday, November 4th from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The bloodmobile will be located on Moore Street in front of the SUB. All donors will receive a fleece blanket, a tumbler cup, 2 free games from Mel's Lone Star Bowling in Georgetown, $20.00 off a Games2U party package, and the chance to win a teeth whitening from J. Phillip Davis, D.D.S. Donors must be at least 17 years old and weigh 100 llbs. Picture I.D. is required. Donors are strongly encouraged to eat a meal prior to donation.
