Life - Announcement Guidelines

Wedding Guidelines

Deadlines:
Weddings will be printed in the Sunday edition immediately following the wedding if information is turned in to the Temple Daily Telegram's Lifestyle Department no later than 5 p.m. Monday before the wedding.

Information and pictures received after a wedding has occurred will be printed on a space-available basis. No wedding picture will be printed if the wedding information is received more than three weeks after the ceremony. No wedding story will be printed if the information is received more than one month after the ceremony.

Pictures:
One free photograph will be used in the Temple Daily Telegram, either an engagement or a bridal photo. Couples wishing to have both an engagement photo and a wedding photo printed will pay regular advertising rates for the wedding photo. The appropriate photos will appear with the engagement and wedding notices in the regular editorial space of the news page. The Telegram will print one free photo, if the bride or bridegroom or at least one set of parents are residents or former residents of the newspaper's circulation area (residents of the counties of Bell, Milam, Lampasas, Coryell, Falls, and portions of Williamson or McLennan).

If a second photo is run, arrangements for payments will be made with the Business Office at the time the wedding photo is brought to the Telegram for publication. All pictures must be black-and-white glossy prints or professional color prints. Polaroid, instant, or soft focus prints do not reproduce well in the newspaper so they cannot be used. Because of space limitations, full-length pictures will not be used. A wedding photo will include the bride only. An Engagement photo is one photo which includes only the prospective bride and bridegroom.

Pictures are saved for 30 days after publication; then they are discarded. The Telegram WILL NOT accept responsibility for mailing photographs back. If you wish to have your picture returned, please pick it up at the Temple Daily Telegram within 30 days after publication. Although those handling the pictures make every effort to ensure photos are not damaged, the Telegram accepts no responsibility for damaged or misplaced photographs.

Information:
For weddings, forms must be filled out completely and printed neatly in ink or typewritten. No wedding stories will be accepted in longhand or pencil. Forms must be signed by the bridegroom, or by an immediate family member. The Temple Daily Telegram is not responsible for authenticity of wedding forms received through the mail, nor does it accept responsibility for wedding information not on a wedding form. Although every effort will be made to publish all wedding information submitted, the Telegram does not guarantee that all information will be included.

Engagements:
For an engagement, please designate who in the wedding party is making the announcement. Deadline for Sunday publication of engagement announcements is 5pm Wednesday. Engagements must be announced at least one month prior to the ceremony.

Wedding Showers
Information about showers or parties honoring the bride-elect, prospective bridegroom or both must be submitted by 5pm Wednesday in order to be published in the following Sunday Edition. Completed forms must be submitted in person at the Telegram office, 10 S. 3rd St., or mailed to P.O. Box 6114, Temple 76503-6114. Please submit articles the next business day after the event. A recent photograph of the couple may also be used but must be good quality. No original wedding photographs will be used. Forms must be printed neatly or typewritten, signed and have a telephone number where someone may be reached during business hours.

Church Briefs

The Temple Telegram wants articles about church activities and special events for its Saturday religion pages. The deadline for submission is 5 p.m. Wednesday.

The Telegram will not publish regular weekly meetings, events and services.

The Church Brief section is reserved for special events and services. Briefs should be kept between 25 and 50 words.

Briefs about special events may be submitted up to a month ahead of time and will run as many times as possible between the submitted date and the date of the event.
