Calvert man shot; Cameron Police seek information
CAMERON — The Cameron Police Department is asking for information after a man was shot once in the face at 2:29 p.m. Thursday, a news release said.
Keelon Williams, 26, of Calvert was responsive at the scene after the shooting. Williams was shot once with a small-caliber firearm and was taken by ambulance to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center-Temple.
No shooter was located at the scene, which was the 1600 block of North Crockett Avenue.
The case is currently under investigation. Responding to the scene were Cameron Police officers, six Texas Department of Public Safety troopers and a deputy with the Milam County Sheriff’s Office.

Rock-painting fundraiser today
A rock-painting fundraiser will be held 2-4 p.m. today at Baylor Scott & White McLane Children’s Medical Center, 1901 SW HK Dodgen Loop.
The event will be in the Temple hospital’s multi-purpose room. A $5 donation per person is requested.
Paint rocks in honor of those fighting cancer. Paint a rock to keep or leave for McLane children to enjoy, a flier said. All materials, including acrylic paint, are included. Wear a gently used shirt that can get dirty.
Donations of gently used or new books also are accepted.
The event, hosted by parents of cancer survivors, benefits the McLane Children’s Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Clinic.
