A lunch lady was let go for contributing to student mayhem at Belton High School on Thursday.

Todd Schiller, Belton Independent School District’s assistant superintendent of human resources, released a statement Friday in response to inquiries.

“Yesterday, there was an altercation between students at Belton High School. A food service worker, who is the parent of one of the students, became involved in the incident,” Schiller said. “That employee has been released by the district.”

District spokeswoman Elizabeth Cox said no police report has been filed on the incident. Schiller said that the students also will be disciplined.

“Belton ISD insists on adherence to high standards of conduct for employees as well as for students,” Schiller said. “The students involved will receive district disciplinary consequences based on the student code of conduct.”
