A Temple woman allegedly set fire to a home with people sleeping inside.
Alicia Savannah Pina, 26, of Temple, was arrested June 5 for arson of a habitation, a first-degree felony.
She was placed in the Bell County Jail on May 27 on a criminal trespass charge, and she was served with the arson arrest warrant while in the jail, Temple Fire & Rescue spokesman Thomas Pechal said in a news release.
Temple Police went on May 19 to 818 S. 23rd St. After an investigation, officers contacted the fire marshal’s office. The homeowner’s camera showed a person walking up to the front porch with a red, square-shaped, plastic container.
When the same person left, flame and smoke showed behind her.
The occupants were asleep when the fire was set, Pechal said.
Physical evidence gained from the scene later led to the identification of Pina by Temple Police officers and the Temple Fire Marshal’s Office.
Bell County District Attorney’s Office reviewed the case and issued a complaint against Pina. Bell County Justice of the Peace Ted Duffield issued an arrest warrant.
Pina remained jailed Tuesday on bonds that total $101,500.
