A dead Moody man was identified as James Robert Moore, 36, but the cause of his death has not yet been determined.
The preliminary autopsy report positively identified Moore, a resident at 15370 Cowan Road in Moody, as the man found in an abandoned mobile home at 9310 FM 2409 in the White Hall community, said Lt. Donnie Adams, Bell County Sheriff’s spokesman.
The last time his family saw Moore was about three weeks ago, but he was never reported missing to police, Adams said.
Deputies followed several leads to trace Moore’s identity while they waited for Monday afternoon’s autopsy results from Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas. The preliminary autopsy showed no signs of trauma, and Justice of the Peace Don Engleking isn’t listing a cause of death until the final autopsy report is available, Adams said.
Detective Wayne Corley, lead investigator, told Adams that Moore’s body probably was in the mobile home for at least a couple of weeks and was badly decomposed.
A neighbor found the body, and called the Moffat Volunteer Fire Department around 4 p.m., Fire Chief Hal Pagel said.
Pagel said he didn’t know how long the mobile home has been abandoned.
