Leaders from the 1st Cavalry Division are scheduled to case the colors of the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team on Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. at Cooper Field, according to a Friday afternoon press release from Fort Hood.
The Blackjack Brigade will deploy to Europe in support of Atlantic Resolve.
The brigade will go to multiple locations in Europe to “conduct multinational training and security cooperation activities with allies and partners,” according a previous release.
More than 3,500 soldiers are expected to deploy with approximately 85 Abrams tanks, 135 Bradleys, 15 Paladins and other vehicles for the nine-month rotation.
On the unit’s Facebook page, a photo showed vehicles loading onto a ship preparing to cross the Atlantic Ocean earlier this week.
The brigade will be primarily based in Germany and Poland, and train in nearby countries, including Lithuania, according to officials. The unit will deploy alongside the 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division from Fort Stewart, Georgia.
