Deer hunters searching for rare leases in Milam County

CAMERON - The white-tailed deer season doesn't start until Nov. 3, but it's usually this time of year when deer fever starts setting in, hunters begin looking for a lease and they turn to Milam County.

Extension agent Jon Gersbach said he begins receiving inquiries about possible leases in the county in July and August, but those properties are few and far between. There is a better chance of finding property to hunt mourning doves than deer.
