Hernandez, Sr.

Ruben Hernandez, Sr., age 85, of Temple passed from this life during the morning hours of Saturday, June 8, 2019 in his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Rungue on May 11, 1934 to parents Adolpho and Maria Hernandez (Sr.).

Ruben was beloved by family and friends. In life, he enjoyed fishing, watching wrestling, dancing, and most importantly being with his family. His greatest celebration was his family get-togethers each year on his birthday. Before retirement, Ruben worked with Bandas Construction Company, Odell Gears, and M. W.  Builders. He enjoyed working outside. At home, he took his morning walks or would spend time on his porch enjoying the day.

Ruben’s greatest joy was his marriage to his wife Juanita. They were married 65 years strong. Together they supported each other through the years with their love and devotion to their family and to each other. Their house doors were always open to all. Grandkids and great-grandkids always surrounded him. He was a father figure to all that grew up in his household.

Ruben treasured being with his family. His daily prayers were for their well-being. His love for his family will be the legacy he leaves behind for generations to come.

Ruben was preceded in death by both of his parents and his brothers Jose Hernandez and Abelardo Hernandez.
