ROCKDALE — A Mass of Christian Burial for Jesus DeLeon, 83, of Rockdale will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rockdale with the Rev. Pedro Castillo and the Rev. Gus Coelho officiating.

Burial will be in Salty Cemetery near Thorndale.

Mr. DeLeon died Saturday, May 18, at a Temple hospital.

He was born Feb. 7, 1936, in Morelos, Coahuila, Mexico, to Esteban and Germana Covarrubias DeLeon. He married Dora Lidia Moreno-Salazar on June 18, 1960, in Nava, Mexico. He worked in construction and was a ranch hand foreman. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife of Rockdale; five daughters, Dora Ellia Casas and Irma DeLeon Moreno, both of Rockdale, Martha DeLeon Balli of San Antonio, Leticia DeLeon-Kuehn of Rosehill, Kan., and Cynthia DeLeon Ybarra of Hutto; three sons, Humberto DeLeon, Juan Miguel DeLeon and Jesus DeLeon Jr., all of Rockdale; four brothers, Jose DeLeon and Mateo Deleon, both of San Antonio, Esteban DeLeon of Chicago and Alfredo DeLeon of Morelos; a sister, Guadalupe Galindo of Morelos; 22 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. today at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale; a rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.
