Helen Irene (Burtchell) Thomison

Irene Thomison passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2019. Services will be held at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Belton on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at 10:30 A.M. Burial will be at Resthaven Cemetery in Belton. Rev. Rick Lasly will conduct the service.

Irene was born to George Burtchell and Vannie (Hall) Burtchell in Temple, Texas on May 4, 1921. Upon her mother’s death, when Irene was five years old, she, one brother, and one sister were raised at the Waco State Orphan’s Home until they graduated high school. Irene married Lloyd B. Thomison on October 12, 1940. They had one daughter, Gloria Ann, and one son, Michael Lloyd. Irene and her husband owned and operated the Thomison’s Washeteria on Holland Rd. for approximately 10 years. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and homemaker.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband (Lloyd), son (Michael), a great-granddaughter (Nicole Panther), five brothers: Johnny, Clyde, Ollie, Louie, and Harvey Burtchell, two sisters: Pairlee Crawford Grimm and Myrtle Dobrowolski, as well as several nieces and nephews.

She is survived by one daughter, Gloria Ann (Ray) Hicks, one grandson, Dale (Sandy) Orange, granddaughters, Alicia (Kevin) Panther and Marla Taylan, great-grandsons, Bradley Orange, Devon Hicks, and Cameron Lockwood; great-granddaughters, Katie Orange, Kristin (Travis) Jory, and Nakota Panther; great-great grandsons, Kaven, Klayten, and Briar Jory, Austin Orange, and Levi Orange; and great-great granddaughters, Aspen Orange and Harmony Orange.

Memorials or donations can be made to Trinity Full Gospel Church, 810 E. 2nd Avenue, Belton, TX 76513.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Friday, May 24, 2019 at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Belton.
