Teachers: Encourage Learning with Newspapers
Enliven English, math, science, and social studies with news, sports, comics and ads from today’s newspaper. ESL and Special Education teachers may benefit also. A top Newspaper In Education professional and local educators will share practical ideas incorporating the use of the newspaper as a teaching/learning tool.

Location: The Pavilion at Temple College
$20.00 per teacher • $15.00 per student
Open to all public and private school teachers, grades K-12 in Temple
and surrounding areas. All participants will receive a certificate of
credit at the end of the workshop.
Lunch will be catered.
Why use Newspapers?
The newspaper is a key resource for teaching concepts and skills in all
subject areas and at all grade levels. It is an excellent tool for building
vocabulary, enhancing reading comprehension, developing writing skills,
understanding current events and practicing a variety of computation skills.
The teaching possibilities are endless. Newspapers are fresh, up-to-date,
and practical. They fill the gap between the text book and the real world
and they are the only text some children will continue to read through
out their life.
