McLennan sweeps TC

McLennan defeated Temple College 6-1 and 12-3 on Saturday to complete a four-game series sweep.

The Highlanders (30-7, 15-1 Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference) also won a pair Wednesday over the Leopards (13-22, 5-11) in Waco.

TC’s Ben McDonald (3-1) allowed four runs on six hits and struck out five in Game 1, which included a Leopards home run by Robert Shaw.

Blake Bolgiano (2-3) took the loss in Game 2, which was scheduled for nine innings but went just seven because of the run-rule.

UMHB sweeps McMurry

ABILENE — Andrew Hutchings threw a two-hitter in the opener, and Daylon Nebgen hit for the cycle in the finale to carry Mary Hardin-Baylor to victories of 6-0 and 20-4 against McMurry on Saturday.

Hutchings (2-1) didn’t walk a batter and struck out two, and Hunter McQuary drove in a pair of runs in the first game for the Crusaders (9-18, 4-8 American Southwest Conference).

Nebgen was 4-for-5 with five RBIs in the second game, and UMHB starter Aaron Edelmon (2-5) allowed 10 hits by McMurry (7-20, 0-12) but only one earned run.

Crusaders shut out Concordia Texas, 4-0

AUSTIN — Kathryn Reed and Bayleigh Grogan combined to pitch a shutout for Mary Hardin-Baylor on Saturday, and the Crusaders scored three runs in the fifth inning to win 4-0 against Concordia Texas.

UMHB (15-12, 12-6 American Southwest Conference) led 1-0 after the first following an RBI double by Emily Bounds. The lead extended to 4-0 in the fifth after Kourtney Cummings’ RBI single and a two-run double by Alexis Galvan.

Reed threw 4 1/3 innings and held Concordia Texas (10-15, 5-10) to two hits while striking out five. Grogan capped the shutout with 2 2/3 innings in relief and allowed four hits.
