UIL realignment sure to spark debate

Yep, it's that time. It comes only once every two years, and after everything is said and done mostly all of us will spend the next 24 months either griping or rejoicing about it.The University Interscholastic League's biennial realignments affect all academic and athletic public high school competitions the next two years. Nowhere is it felt more than in football, the king of all extra-curricular activities in Texas.Today's announcement, released at 9 a.m., will immediately affect football and basketball. UIL assistant athletic director Rex Spain said Monday that academic and spring sports alignments for 2000-02 will be released later this spring.In any case, today's realignment announcement is sure to cause a stir. by Will Wright
