Wildcat Relays set for today
Published: March 3, 2000
Like the undermanned, but talented Temple swimming and diving team, the Wildcat track and field squad doesn't boast depth.Coach Rusty Hunter does have considerable talent among the ranks, which include 11 returning lettermen. But Temple's deficiency in numbers makes it a little harder to compete for team titles. But that won't stop Temple's athletes from making their mark in the individual races and events at today's Wildcat Relays. The 11-team meet, which includes Belton, Round Rock Westwood, Austin Reagan, Bryan, Waco University, Brownwood and District 8-5A rivals Killeen, Copperas Cove, Waco and Killeen Ellison, gets under way at 2:30 p.m. at Wildcat Stadium."We don't have the depth, but we're a senior-loaded team with a lot of talent," Hunter said. "We've seen some good things so far this year and I believe we're going to go out there and get our points today as well." by Tom Day
