Salado trying to take mind off suspensions
Published: April 20, 2000
After capturing a bi-district championship in 1999, Salado softball coach Alan Haire wasn't expecting much from his team this year."We lost some key players off last season's team," Haire said. "I wasn't sure what we'd be able to do this year."What Salado did do was compile an 18-6 overall record, and a 12-2 District 26-2A record, one game behind district champion Hutto. Salado split the season series with Hutto, and the loss was by one-run."We don't have any superstars this year," Haire said. "This team has come a long way, and has a lot of heart."That heart has put Salado in a bi-district match-up against 24-2A's Moody at 7 p.m. today at Belton High School. by Marcus Hood
