A&M, S&W discussing their future
Although Texas A&M officials adamantly denied Wednesday that a decision has been made to terminate the link between Scott and White Memorial Hospital and the Texas A&M College of Medicine, talks are ongoing to change the working relationship.Texas A&M College of Medicine and Health Science Center representatives confirmed Wednesday that they have submitted four alternatives to Scott and White and the Central Texas Veterans Health Care System. The stated goal is to improve the medical education facilities in Temple.The VA has found three acceptable, but Scott and White has rejected all four.Dr. Alfred Knight, chief executive officer of Scott and White Memorial Hospital/Foundation and Scott and White Health Plan, said, "To me the question is why do we have to talk about the relationship when we have been successful for 23 years and the new models that have been proposed are different from what has been successful for 23 years?"
