Published: June 1, 2000
The epic saga of Temple's new movie theater continues at 5 p.m. today with the scene being a Temple City Council meeting in the municipal building. The group will consider whether to modify a tax abatement it granted to Westward Ltd. Cinemark of Utah in December 1999 for the construction of a new 10-screen theater with stadium seating at 4103 S. 31st St. after the current Cinema 5 on the plot is torn down. The firm bought the Cinema 5 and Cinema 6 properties in November 1999.Cinemark requested the proposed change which would extend the time on the abatement.John Prickette Jr., president of the Temple Economic Development Corporation
