Temple, sister city artists to exchange showings
A visual exchange of ideas between Temple and its sister city in Mexico was announced Wednesday when plans for shows featuring artists from the two communities were revealed.Works from nine artists in Aguascalientes, Mexico, will be displayed at the Cultural Activities Center from Thursday, Sept. 21, to Friday, Nov. 3, while pieces by 11 Temple artists will be shown in the Governmental Palace in Aguascalientes from Thursday, Oct. 19, to Nov. 3, said Hugh Shine, Temple Sister Cities Corporation president.The event called "Hermanas en Arte (Sisters in Art)" will mark the first exchange of art between the two cities, said Herschall Seals, arts and culture chairman for Sister Cities and dean of the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor art department.Cultural exchanges between the two cities have included two visits by Ballet Folklorico de Aguascalientes in Temple and a Temple Symphony trip to Mexico.
