City council OKs tax hike, pay increases
The Temple city council Thursday night approved, with no opposition, a 3.5 cent tax increase that would increase salaries of public safety workers and other employers during a scheduled public hearing.With a 5-0 vote, the police department would receive $798,455 more for salaries, while the fire department $713,039 more during the 2000-2001 budget year.As for other city employees, $928,174 more would go to them.
