The Temple City Council approved a rise in garbage collection rates by $1 to $10.95 monthly and the first step toward issuing $5 million in certificates of obligation at its Thursday meeting.The garbage service increase prevents the city from raising the tax rate further than the one approved. at a Sept. 7 meeting of 59.22 cents per $100 property valuation.The previous rate was 55.72 cents.The cost will continue the twice-a-week garbage pickup and once-a-week brush pickup and will bring the city an additional $187,200.The vote was 3-1, with District 3 Councilwoman Martha Tyroch dissenting.
