Sul Ross welcomes Crusaders
Published: January 25, 2001
Both University of Mary Hardin-Baylor basketball teams are tied for second place in the American Southwest Conference's West Division. Sul Ross State's squads sport less-than-impressive records. So it follows that the Crusaders and Lady Crusaders are expected win easily tonight in the teams' twinbill in Alpine. What will actually happen, though, is anyone's guess, because neither UMHB squad brings a tremendous amount of momentum into today's games. Coach Ken DeWeese's Crusaders (8-7 overall, 5-4 in the ASC West), who will battle Sul Ross (3-12, 2-7) at 7:30 p.m., bagged a 105-79 win at Hardin-Simmons a week ago but then got hammered 122-93 at division-leading McMurry on Saturday. It's a similar story for Coach Margie Williamson's Lady Crusaders (9-6 overall, 6-3 in the ASC West), who'll play Sul Ross (5-9, 3-6) at 5:30 p.m. by Greg Wille
