UMHB, TC host twinbills
Published: February 3, 2001
It's Big Saturday for the four area college basketball teams, who can help their causes significantly by recording conference wins at home. The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor will play Howard Payne in an American Southwest Conference West Division doubleheader set to begin with the women's game at 1 p.m. at Belton's Mabee Gym.Later, Temple College will battle rival McLennan Community College in a Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference twinbill scheduled to start with the women's game at 4 p.m. at TC Gym.And for each of the four home teams, the pressure is on.Although they have eight regular-season games remaining, TC's Lady Leopards (10-12 overall, 3-5 in conference play) must beat MCC if they're to have a chance to earn one of the NTJCAC's top four spots and a berth in the NJCAA Region V Tournament. With Weatherford, Grayson County, and Hill looking like locks to make it and MCC (14-7) at 5-3 in league play, it's obviously crunch time for TC. by Greg Wille
