Sports Victories looming large for TC hoops
Published: February 10, 2001
It's difficult to find similarities between the Temple College men's and women's basketball teams. The Leopards of 14th-year coach Kirby Johnson are a perennial power in the Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference, while the Lady Leopards of third-year coach Kim Sebek are in the process of building their program. The 19-4 TC men are 11-0 at home and 8-4 on the road, while the 12-12 TC women are 5-4 at home and 7-8 away. The second-place Leopards are vying to win the conference championship and reach several other goals, while the fifth-place Lady Leopards are fighting to claim the NTJCAC's fourth and final playoff spot. However, TC's squads do have this in common: With only six conference games remaining in the regular season, every win is a huge win. They hope to record two victories today, when struggling Southwestern Christian College comes to town for a doubleheader at TC Gym.The Lady Leopards (5-5 in the NTJCAC) will battle the Lady Rams (3-18, 2-8) at 4 p.m., with the men's game between TC (8-2 conference) and SWCC (2-19, 0-10) scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. by Greg Wille
