Six Wildcats among 13-5A elite

The Temple boys basketball team hauled in its first batch of postseason accolades with the release of the All-District 13-5A teams Wednesday night.The outright district champion with a 9-1 league record, Temple placed six players on the squad. Senior Matt Williams was named the district's Most Valuable Player and Bruce Etheridge was named its Coach of the Year for leading the Wildcats to a 28-5 record.Temple point guard David President took in first-team honors, shooting guard Travis Levie and swingman Quinton White were named to the second team and post Dominique Steamer and forward Tony Brown received honorable mention."Our kids had a great year and this recognition is befitting their accomplishments and the hard work they put in," Etheridge said. "These awards are just icing on the cake after a special season and hopefully they'll continue to be recognized on a statewide level."District runner-up Georgetown also placed six members on the teams, including sophomore post Ross Ryden, who was named Newcomer of the Year. Third-place Killeen Ellison and Copperas Cove were each represented by four selections. by Tom Day
