Local farmers want state lawmakers to know what a terrible setback to corn production the heavy rains of recent weeks have been, and they hope to charter a bus from Temple to Austin to plead their case.Farmers from Bell and surrounding counties have scheduled a meeting with Gov. Rick Perry, Agriculture Commissioner Susan Combs and Rep. Suzanna Gratia Hupp, R-Lampasas, and possibly others at 3 p.m., Tuesday, April 11, at the state capitol.Farmers will meet on the south entrance of the capitol at 2:30 p.m.
