In a special meeting Thursday, the council directed the city manger to continue work on the budget figures without estimates for the operation of the cemetery, which has been under discussion for several weeks.
Doctors and family of 7-year-old Ariah Turner, weren't sure what to expect when she was struck with a debilitating illness, but it soon became apparent how strong her will was to survive. "Despite what happened, we look at this as a blessing and learning experience," said Roscoe Turner, Ariah's father. In January, Ariah caught a cold that developed into bacterial meningitis, a serious disease that causes symptoms such as a stiff neck, headaches and sore throat. by Tamika Terry
Graduation day is definitely an exciting turn of events in the life of Temple High senior Jeff Wood, but this aspiring trauma surgeon is making sure that he enjoys each day of life that leads to commencement. "I really feel that now more than ever people should live each day to the fullest," Wood said. TXU Gas filed a request Thursday with the Temple City Council to raise customers' rates for natural gas service by an average of 11.21 percent in the South Region Distribution System. If approved, the increase would raise the average residential customer's bill by about $5.60 per month to $49.50, according to a TXU new release. by Anna Foster
