Cochlear implant helped meningitis victim hear

Doctors and family of 7-year-old Ariah Turner, weren't sure what to expect when she was struck with a debilitating illness, but it soon became apparent how strong her will was to survive. "Despite what happened, we look at this as a blessing and learning experience," said Roscoe Turner, Ariah's father. In January, Ariah caught a cold that developed into bacterial meningitis, a serious disease that causes symptoms such as a stiff neck, headaches and sore throat. by Tamika Terry
