It's a simple equation: summer heat equals greater energy consumption and higher electric bills. To help customers beat the summer heat, TXU Electric and Gas is taking some of the sting out of high bills by sponsoring several relief programs. The Summer Heat assistance program is one where TXU will donate $5 million to social service agencies in Texas to help people who qualify pay their bills. TXU also has set up the "Energy Aid" fund, which will pledge an additional $2.5 million to match contributions from other customers. by Daniel Bartel
