Considerable damage was done to a Belton residence Thursday night when a lightning strike started a fire. Belton Fire Chief Roy Harmon estimated that up to $50,000 worth of damage was done to the house located in the 700 block of South Pearl Street. There were no power outages reported to the Temple Police Department as a result of Thursday's storm, according to a police department spokeswoman.
