Archives for Sunday, July 1, 2001news sportsIn the wacky world of TV broadcasting, there aren't any constants. This summer that's become painfully aware, as area viewers can't understand why some of the games that are listed to be aired, aren't.We're referring to Houston Astros and Texas Rangers games scheduled to appear on Fox Sports Net, Fox Family Channel, and Time Warner Cable's channel 19.You see, for the past few months, there's been some sort of scheduling snafu involving both entities. We don't know exactly what it's all about, but we do know that some games scheduled to be shown haven't been airing, and Time Warner folks are just as perplexed as we are as to why."We get calls about this all the time," said Time Warner's Lisa Thomas, who did her best to explain the situation If Bullfighters Anonymous existed, Chris Hammack and Wes McManus would be card-carrying members and attend every meeting. They're obviously addicted to rodeo bullfighting, one of the more dangerous professions around.Temple's Hammack had his right calf muscle ripped apart by a bull on the first night of last year's Belton 4th of July PRCA Rodeo. He's healed and back for more this year.Lexington's McManus had his face stepped on by a bull six years ago. He didn't get out of the game then, and he and Hammack now form perhaps the top team on the emerging Miller Lite Professional Bullfighters Tour. They and four other two-man teams will be showcased at the Bell County Expo Center Saturday night, the final evening of the 77th annual Belton PRCA Rodeo, which begins Wednesday. by Greg Wille
