A painful, pleasurable profession; In spite of everything, area bullfighters love their jobs
Published: July 1, 2001
If Bullfighters Anonymous existed, Chris Hammack and Wes McManus would be card-carrying members and attend every meeting. They're obviously addicted to rodeo bullfighting, one of the more dangerous professions around.Temple's Hammack had his right calf muscle ripped apart by a bull on the first night of last year's Belton 4th of July PRCA Rodeo. He's healed and back for more this year.Lexington's McManus had his face stepped on by a bull six years ago. He didn't get out of the game then, and he and Hammack now form perhaps the top team on the emerging Miller Lite Professional Bullfighters Tour. They and four other two-man teams will be showcased at the Bell County Expo Center Saturday night, the final evening of the 77th annual Belton PRCA Rodeo, which begins Wednesday. by Greg Wille
