Temple to begin work on $60 million budget
The Temple City Council is studying a $60 million budget proposal by City Manager Mark Watson and department directors for the next fiscal year, with a target date of Sept. 6 for adoption. The current Temple budget is $70,651,348, or 13.87 percent higher than the $60,851,263 proposed for 2001-2002. However, the budget approved last September was just short of $62 million.Conservative revenue estimates in the budgeting process combined with use of money from the undesignated fund balance for unexpected expenses account for the more than $8 million difference between what was approved for 2000-2001 and what is actually being spent.
