Belton, Temple fall at tourney

Both the Temple and Belton girls soccer teams concluded their stay at the sixth annual Temple Tournament with disappointing results Saturday.The Tem-Cats (2-4) fell to Leander 3-0 at Woodson Field, while the Lady Tigers (1-6) dropped a 3-1 decision to Abilene at the Korompai Soccer Complex.In other tournament action on Saturday, the Temple boys finished third at the Jesuit Meinster Tournament with a 2-1 win over Allen.And the Belton boys stayed undefeated and advanced to the finals with a 4-1 victory over Sherman in the Governors' Cup.At Temple, The Woodlands defended its 2000 title with a 2-1 title-game win over Cedar Park. Angleton took home third place with a 3-0 win over Nacogdoches. Abilene defeated Leander for fifth place, and Round Rock Stony Point claimed seventh place, 4-0, over Hewitt Midway. By Robert Hollier
