The Temple boys and girls basketball teams didn't exactly catch a breather last Friday in their respective contests against Waco. And they certainly won't be letting their hair down tonight. The Wildcats and Tem-Cats jump back into the District 13-5A fire with a pair of showdowns against area rival Killeen Ellison, whose teams are a combined 8-0 in loop play.Coming off a narrow 39-37 victory over Waco, the Tem-Cats (7-13, 2-3 in district) host the first-place Lady Eagles (20-3, 5-0) in a 7:30 p.m. match-up at Wildcat Gym.At the same time in Killeen, the eighth-ranked Wildcats (21-3, 3-0 in district) will take on the Eagles (16-7, 3-0) for sole possession of first place in the boys standings.Nothing has come easy for the Wildcats so far in district play and they aren't expecting a picnic tonight. After squeaking out home victories over Copperas Cove and ninth-ranked Georgetown, they held on for a 52-46 win last Friday at last-place Waco. The Wildcats are now making the proverbial leap from the frying pan into the fire."This is a big road game that would put us a game up on everyone in district," Temple coach Bruce Etheridge said. "It is definitely our biggest game of the season thus far. Ellison has probably the best (man-to-man) defense in the district, so we have to be prepared to handle that pressure. And we have to hit some shots." by Tom Day
