Residents take advantage of free water giveaway

In the midst of the city water crisis, those giving out the water and those receiving it have demonstrated a rather cheerful, cavalier attitude. Take Station No. 3, for example (Oakdale and Thornton Lane, not a water dispensation site). Friday night a 93-year-old woman called asking for directions, related Lonzo Wallace, Temple fire chief. "The guys loaded up some bottled water and took it over," he said. And at the downtown tanker (on loan by Temple Bottling Co.), Mrs. M.J. Morris of Temple asked parks and leisure worker Daniel Davis if he was "guarding the gold." by Larry Causey
