UT loss opens title door for another UT

By 7 p.m. Saturday, the Texas Longhorns knew the score. All they had to do is outscore Colorado in front of a national TV audience and claim the Big 12 title.Florida had already been shamed by Tennessee, meaning all there was for UT, No. 3 in the Bowl Championship Series rankings, was to win for a shot at facing No. 1 Miami for a national title.But alas, Texas' first chance of directly playing for a national title went out with Chris Simms' arm at Texas Stadium. Although Major Applewhile entered a stage befitting his exit from the Forty Acres, he was unable to stem the tide.
