Scott and White Memorial Hospital successfully issued bonds Thursday in the amount of $158 million, which clears the way for the construction of a 358,000-square-foot, eight-story inpatient hospital. Work on the structure is expected to begin in the spring of 2002 and be completed in 2005. The new building will adjoin the southwest corner of the current hospital, which was built in the 1970s.
