Leopards net wins over MCC
Published: February 4, 2001
Both of Temple College's basketball teams had something to prove against perennial rival McLennan Community College on Saturday at TC Gym. The Lady Leopards wanted to prove they could beat an MCC squad that edged them 62-60 in Waco on Dec. 6 in the teams' Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference opener. The Leopards wanted to prove that their 97-86 conference-opening win at MCC that same night wasn't a fluke. They did, and they did. TC's women stormed back from an eight-point halftime deficit with a brilliant second half to record a 72-51 victory and get back into the race for one of the NTJCAC's four playoff berths. Later, TC's men seized the advantage early against MCC and held off the stubborn Highlanders in the second half to post an 87-75 win and remain in second place in the NTJCAC. by Greg Wille
