With Angela Doerfler setting exclusively and Kristen Fort serve receiving and passing, Belton (4-0) defeated Hewitt Midway 15-5, 10-15, 15-8 to win the Lady Tiger Volleyball tournament on Saturday.The Lady Tigers defeated Temple 15-4, 15-1 in the semifinals earlier Saturday to reach the finals against Midway (3-1). On Friday, Belton edged Midway (by a 47 to 46 point differential) for first place in Pool A play and a first-round bye.Midway made it to the finals against Belton by beating Waco Connally and Georgetown earlier on Saturday.The Tem-Cats, meanwhile, took fourth in the tournament. After losing to Belton, Temple (3-2) fell to Georgetown 15-11, 15-7 in the third-place match. The Tem-Cats defeated Lampasas 17-5, 15-5 to reach the semifinals against Belton.
