Rabies controlled best by keeping pets vaccinated

Coryell County had one case of rabies in the year 2000. By the close of 2001, the county had confirmed two rabid bats and 16 rabid skunks. The most recent case occurred around the Grove, not far from the Bell County line.Dr. Beverlee Nix, zoonosis control veterinarian for the Texas Department of Health in Temple, said the migration of confirmed cases should make people in Bell County aware of a potential problem in their county, but not necessarily alarmed.
