UMHB wraps up homestand tonight

Each of the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor's basketball teams will have an opportunity to complete its five-game homestand with a 4-1 record in tonight's doubleheader against Concordia University at Belton's Mabee Gym.On the men's side, UMHB's Crusaders (10-8) own a 5-2 record in the American Southwest Conference's West Division, tying them for second place with McMurry behind Concordia's 6-1 Tornados (13-5). UMHB beat Concordia 73-68 in Austin Dec. 5 in the teams' ASC West opener. Their game at 7:30 p.m. today shapes up as a clash of arguably the division's best two players in senior forwards Robert Moore of UMHB and K.B. DeBord of Concordia.As for the women, both UMHB and Concordia are 11-7 overall and 5-2 in the ASC West going into today's 5:30 p.m. battle. They and Howard Payne, which fell 72-58 at UMHB Saturday, are tied for second behind 7-0 Hardin-Simmons. The Lady Tornados cruised to a 64-51 win over the Lady Crusaders Dec. 8 in Austin.Only the top two men's and women's teams in each division will qualify for the ASC Tournament in late February. Admission to tonight's games is free.
