Former state Sen. Jerry Patterson and Rep. Kenn George met in a candidate forum Tuesday at Wildflower Country Club to address questions about their race for the office of Texas land commissioner.Bell County Young Republicans served as hosts for the forum.Both candidates in opening remarks outlined the purpose of the land office as threefold. Funds generated from mineral rights from nearly 22 million acres of state holdings fund education, fund home mortgage loans, land loans and home improvement loans for veterans, and fund both full-care nursing facilities for veterans and veterans cemeteries.by Harper Scott Clark
