Brazilian administrators Monday visited education facilities in Temple to see if concepts being used here could help in their schools.Kay Archer, Temple High School career and technology education coordinator, said the visitors were interested to see how classrooms were set up. Administrators also wanted to learn about tech prep programs at Temple High School that allow students to get credit in community colleges.Brazil doesn't have a community college system, but there is hope of developing one.The visitors represented nine schools in three states in Brazil, said Dr. Agustin Navarra, who served as the interpreter.Navarra, a senior research associate with CORD International based in Waco, said there are 17,000 students at the nine Brazil schools.The administrators were Arwed Kirchgassner, Office of the State of Parana Secretary of Industry, Commerce and Tourism; Leila Pagnozzi, Bom Jesus Franciscan Association Center for Education Research director; Jorge Siarcos, Bom Jesus Franciscan Association director; and Julio Inafuco, Bom Jesus Franciscan Association staff development project director.The group visited about 12 Temple High School classrooms, including health science technology, business computer information systems and the culinary program.Some of the other classes included digital graphics, business education co-op, webmastering, graphics, computer tech and robotics. by Jake Long
