Tractors receive top billing

Tractor and antique engine aficionados will be out in full force today for the 31st annual fall show of the Texas Early Day Tractor and Engine Association.The show will begin at 9 a.m. today and continue Sunday at the 48-acre showgrounds on Eberhardt Road.About 10,000 people are expected to view the all-day antique tractor pulls, 1 p.m. tractor parade and demonstrations of old-time farm skills in the two-day event.Corn picking, gin operation, wood sawing, cream separating and grain threshing are some of the skills that will be demonstrated.Exhibitors with tractors and other farm equipment come from Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana, said Ron Heuss, association president, of Temple. One exhibitor is bringing equipment this year from Indiana.
