The Temple City Council set the next council election for May 4, when candidates for mayor and Districts 2 and 3 will vie for three-year terms and candidates for Districts 1 and 4 will run for two-year terms.The change to three-year from two-year terms follows a charter amendment passed in May 2000.The purpose of having two of the districts continue to serve a two-year term after this election is to stagger the elections, City Attorney Jonathan Graham said, explaining that the entire council would not be up for election all at once.
