Temple Fire and Rescue responded to a gasoline spill of about 25 gallons, about 12:30 p.m. Friday, reported Fire Chief Lonzo Wallace.A tanker was drawing gasoline from underground tanks at the 7-Eleven at French Avenue and 3rd Street. The convenience store recently closed.The tanker overfilled one of its compartments, and the fuel backed out onto 3rd Street.A fire engine responded, then called the hazardous materials truck. Firefighters put down booms to stop the spread of the gasoline and applied absorbent materials, Wallace said. An outside company will take care of the final cleanup. by Larry Causey |
