A petition drive application signed by 10 Temple residents was submitted to the city secretary Thursday morning and it was approved, said Wendell Williams, Health and Bioscience Task Force chairman for the Temple Economic Development Corporation.
Petition documents were then issued so that a drive, which must collect 402 signatures within 120 days, could begin.
The high-profile Temple residents who signed the pre-application petition were Williams, Central National Bank of Temple chairman; John Cunningham Jr. an attorney with Naman, Howell, Smith and Lee in Temple; Bill Jones III, Temple mayor; William Reeb, Wilsonart International president; Sue Mayborn, editor and publisher of the Temple Daily Telegram and Killeen Daily Herald and president of KCEN-TV; Keifer Marshall Jr., former Temple mayor; Dr. Alfred Knight, Scott and White president and chief executive officer; Drayton McLane Jr., Temple businessman; Dr. Ralph Wilson Jr., who served as president of Ralph Wilson Plastics Company; Tucker Bonner, King
