Local United Way at 91% of goal

The United Way of Central Texas has raised $912,625, or 91 percent, of its 2002 campaign goal of $1 million, Executive Director Ann Thompson said Wednesday. As the campaign moves into its final stages, United Way is still looking for contributions. With $87,000 to go until their goal, United Way officials said they are hoping donor cards posted in the Temple Daily Telegram and donations to their new leadership organization, the Wildflower Society, will help pull them through. The Wildflower Society, which was formed in December to honor those donors who contributed $500 or more to the charity, is still looking for members to meet their 50th anniversary goal.
